Globalli onboarding in Italy requires employees to submit several documents to comply with local labor, tax, and government-mandated regulations. These requirements ensure proper legal work authorization.

1. ID / Passport

Purpose:

  • Serves as the primary form of identity verification.

  • Required for employment contracts, payroll setup, and official government registrations.

  • Confirms nationality and personal details for compliance purposes.

  • Essential for cross-checking with tax, social security, and immigration records.

2. IBAN (Bank Account Number)

Purpose:

  • Required for processing salary payments via SEPA transfers.

  • Ensures employee wages are deposited correctly and securely.

  • Helps verify that the employee holds a valid Italian or EU bank account.

  • Necessary for Globalli reimbursements and statutory payments.

3. Health Insurance Registration (Iscrizione al Servizio Sanitario Nazionale – SSN)

Purpose:

  • Confirms enrollment in Italy’s national healthcare system.

  • Ensures access to medical care, emergency services, and preventive health programs.

  • Globalli uses this registration to remit required social contributions.

  • Mandatory for both Italian residents and long-term workers.

4. Work Permit for Non-EU Citizens (Permesso di Soggiorno / Nulla Osta)

Purpose:

  • Grants legal authorization for non-EU nationals to work in Italy.

  • Ensures compliance with Italian immigration and employment laws.

  • Typically consists of:

    • Nulla Osta (work authorization approved by immigration authorities)

    • Permesso di Soggiorno (residence permit allowing employment)

  • Required before the Globalli can place the employee on payroll.

5. Social Security Number (Tessera Sanitaria / Numero di iscrizione INPS)

Purpose:

  • Used to register the employee with INPS (National Social Security Institute).

  • Required for contributions related to:

    • Pension

    • Unemployment insurance

    • Maternity/paternity benefits

    • Sick leave and disability coverage

  • The Tessera Sanitaria also serves as the physical health insurance card.

6. Italian Tax ID (Codice Fiscale)

Purpose:

  • Mandatory for any legal, financial, and employment activity in Italy.

  • Used for payroll tax withholding, income reporting, and filing tax declarations.

  • Required to issue employment contracts and register benefits.

  • Essential for opening a bank account, accessing healthcare, and other public services.
