1. Employment Agreement

Requirement:

A written employment agreement is strongly recommended and commonly required by employers across Canada.

Must Include:

  • Job title and duties

  • Salary and payment schedule

  • Working hours

  • Employment start date

  • Probation period (if applicable)

  • Termination and notice provisions

  • Benefits and leave entitlements

Purpose:

  • Establishes the employment relationship

  • Defines rights and obligations of both employer and employee

  • Helps ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards

2. Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Requirement:

Employees must provide a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Purpose:

  • Necessary for Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions

Globalli must collect and record the SIN within three days of the employee starting work.

3. Banking Information

Requirement:

Employees must provide bank account details for payroll processing.

Purpose:

  • Enables electronic salary payments via direct deposit

  • Ensures payroll accuracy and traceability

  • Supports accounting and financial compliance

4. ID Card- Optional but not required

Requirement:

Employees may be required to provide a government-issued ID (e.g., driver's license or provincial ID).

Purpose:

  • Verifies employee identity

  • Supports HR record keeping and compliance checks

5. Passport or Visa (Foreign Workers)

Requirement:

Foreign nationals must provide:

  • Valid passport

  • Work permit or visa authorizing employment in Canada

Authority:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada

Purpose:

  • Confirms legal authorization to work in Canada

  • Ensures compliance with immigration regulations

  • Protects employer from legal penalties

6. TD1 Form (Personal Tax Credits Return)- Optional but not required

Requirement:

Employees must complete the TD1 Form, which determines federal tax credits.

Purpose:

  • Determines the correct amount of income tax to withhold from salary

  • Required for accurate payroll tax calculation

Employees may also complete a provincial or territorial TD1 form depending on their location.
